I’m known to come up with corny ideas that I think are cute and of course this time is no different. In honor of my birthday I thought that I would start this tradition of listing how many things I’m thankful for and the amount of things would match the age that I’m turning. I’m not sure whether or not I will just add 1 more thing to the list every year or if I’ll start a new list every year. We’ll tackle that bridge when we get there so here goes:
25. Beyonce: I love her, lol.
24. You: whoever you may be. I’m thankful that you were created and that you will go on to make a positive difference in the world. You will push past all your struggles, trials and tribulations. You will not let your past haunt you and hold you back. You are beautiful, created in God’s image. You are reading this (thanks!) and loving up on yourself (we all need to do that everyone once in a while).
23. My personality: I’m not your average person. Everyone that meets me, calls me weird. It used to be a source of insecurity but I have come to embrace it and know that the people around me that still love it must be really special. I’m also a very loving and caring person. I love hard. Always willing to listen and counsel if needed. I’m a helpless romantic.
22. My purpose: I’m not sure what this is yet but I’m a designer original. There is no one else in the world like me. So there is no one else with the purpose that I have. That’s so cool and amazing.
21. My gift/s: I’m not really sure what that is either, but I’m seeking God’s face to find it. Regardless I know it’s something awesome and God’s going to use it in me to further His kingdom.
20. My accountability partner: Her name is Randi. I’ll speak more about her in another post. She’s the best. I’m completely honest with her regarding my walk with Christ, mistakes I’ve made and she continues to encourage me in Christ and always responds in love and not anger. My goal is to be more like her in my response to other people.
19. Protection: OMG the way I lived my life, the people that I dated, the things that I did…I realize that there could have been so many bad things that happened to me and I was protected from it. Amazing. Thankful.
18. That God never gives me more than I can handle: I may have challenges in life but I know He gives me according to what I can handle.
17. My trials (both past and future): I know they are for my good, to elevate me, prune me and make me stronger. I will always win. My tests will become my testimony
16. Forgiveness: Through God’s forgiveness I have been able to forgive from my past (#15) and love myself again. I am no longer ashamed and the burden has been lifted
15. My past: though in an ideal world I would have lived for Jesus my entire life… I didn’t. I did some things that make me cringe when I think about it and went through some horrible and painful experiences. They, however, made me into who I am today. I can now speak life into those that are going through the same things I did. I don’t think my love, appreciation and dedication to God would be as strong as it is if I didn’t go through what I went through.
14. Health: I’ve never really had any health issues growing up and I still don’t really have any. That’s a blessing.
13. My extended family: we’re huge but not very close. Most times I wish we were but we’re not. Regardless I know that I was placed in this particular family for a reason and I’m thankful.
12.The Word: It is a lamp unto my feet and a light onto my path.
11. The U.S: As many issues as I have with the government, at the end of the day I am free. There are many countries where you can get killed just for being a Christian.
10. Clothes: I have never gone without.
9. Food: I never have to wonder where my next meal is coming from. I’m blessed.
8. My husband: I’m not engaged, I’m not even dating anyone right now…but I’m thankful for him…whoever he may be. I’m thankful that he is a man of God and he loves me like Christ loves the church. I’m thankful that he is a provider and that I can agree with him in his vision for our family. Speaking it into existence. Amen!
7. My home: After moving to the U.S. it took my mother 4 years to buy and own her own home. I don’t have to worry about where I’m going to sleep or if I’m going to be warm in the winter. Some people don’t have that luxury.
6. My education: My mom is a single mother and we definitely aren’t balling out of control. My dream was to go to Northeastern University for my undergrad and she said that she would do everything in her power to pay for tuition all 5 years. She also didn’t want me to have a lot of debt so we committed to both of us working really hard to pay tuition without taking out private loans. I work 2-3 jobs while going to school all 5 years. I graduated from NU with a BA without taking out a single loan and I am now enrolled in Boston University’s masters program going to school for F-R-E-E. God is good. He always makes a way.
5. Reconciliation: I have reconciled with my father. Slowly but surely we are working to rebuild a relationship with one another and I’m really excited about it. I’m thankful that God spoke to me and told me to go reconcile. I’m thankful that my father was open to reconciling. Though my sisters and I never had a bad relationship, the fact that I did not speak with my father unfortunately meant that I couldn’t speak with my sisters either. Now that I have reconciled, I am able to see and speak with my sisters and I’m excited that we get to rebuild our relationship with each other.
4. My job: My worst fear in college was that I was going to graduate and end up in a job that I did not like and thus would dread going to for the rest of my life. I ended up in a place of employment that I love. I love coming to work everyday, I love what I do, I love my team and I’m so blessed to be here. There are so many people that are unemployed and I have not been unemployed for a single moment since I was 16 years old. God is good!
3. Friends:I’m such a weird person and sometimes I wonder why the people that are friends with me, chose to be and remain my friend. I’m so thankful for those that I have met in every walk of life because they served a purpose. Whether or not we’re still in contact. When I 1st gave my life to I went through a season of feeling alone though I still had friends. I only knew 1 other person that was on my walk with me and my prayer was for God to bring more people in my life who were on the same journey and serious about their walk. He blessed me more than I could have ever imagined and now a have sisters in Christ who pour into me and I pour into them <3
2. My mom: We butt heads all the time and she can drive me crazy but the love I have more this woman simply can’t be expressed in words. She’s so important to me, has always been in my corner rooting for and supporting me. She has always told me I can do whatever I set my mind to. God couldn’t have blessed with a better mother. #MyMomIsBetterThanYours
1. Salvation: I was lost and now I’m found. Broken and rebuilt into someone better. Where would I be without His grace
xoxo
