About 3 weeks ago we had a huge snow storm, they called it Nemo. Side
note: when did we start naming snow storms? Am I missing something?
Anyway…it was supposed to be so intense that they were comparing it to
the blizzard of 1978, which I was told shut the city of Boston down for
an entire week. How thrilling.
At the end of the blizzard my mother and I had the “amazing” task of
digging out our walkway, driveway, sidewalk surrounding the house and
the car. With both of us digging, stopping half way through to to take a
nap, then going back out to dig again, it took us about 5 hours
altogether to get everything done. Thank you Nemo -_-. While we were
digging out the car I was getting so frustrated with the amount of snow
we had to work on and the amount of time and effort this was taking. It
was so much! However, in the midst of it all I stopped, looked at my mom
smiling in a seemingly delirious way. Mom asks “What’s wrong?” and I
respond “This is a Word”.
Now for those of you who know me on a personal level and spend a
significant amount of time with me know that I often find myself in
normal everyday situations where God just speaks to me. (To
read more blogs where God has given me a revelation on in a normal
everyday situation/experience you can look for the blogs “Don’t Judge
Me!” and “Come Home”). The message is always so simple but yet so profound leaving me with a “whoa” reaction.
In this revelation, God was trying to show me that this massive
amount of snow buried under this car is what happens when we disobey Him
or go off on our own thinking we know better than Him. We will, no
doubt, make a mess of things. Some messes are smaller than others and
easier to get out of, but in order to get out of it, there is some
digging that needs to be done. That’s where God comes in, that’s what he
does. After we screw things up, He comes running to your aide as the
loving Father He is and starts to dig you out. Sometimes it takes days,
sometimes it takes weeks, sometimes it takes years, it all depends on
how deep you have buried yourself.
Sometimes we’re going through trials and tribulations and it seems
that we’ve been going through for such a long time. We wonder where God
is. When are You going to fix this? When are you going to get me
through? When will this be over? Where are you God?!
Whatever you are going through or will go through (because we all
will go through things), I want to encourage you not to give up on Him.
He will never leave you, He will never forsake you. He’s right there
with you. He’s just digging and digging and digging because there’s a
lot of “stuff” to move. Please note that anything is possible with God
and it’s not that He NEEDS all this time to dig you out, it can be done
in the snap of a finger. But sometimes YOU need to learn in the midst of
a trial and that’s why the “digging” takes so long. Just like all of a
sudden my mom and I seemed to finally clear off all the snow, one day
you’ll wake up and everything you are going through will be gone…just
like that. Praise God!
If you’re from the Boston area: do you remember that year, around 2
years ago, when we had 4 major storms literally every other week. The
snow wasn’t melting fast enough and it got to a point where there was
literally no where else to put the snow. I remember every time we’d
shovel I’d get so frustrated when the snow would come back and cover
everything I’d just worked so hard and devoted so much time to getting
rid of. We’re human and we’re not perfect but try not to be that person.
Don’t spend years having God dig you out of one situation just to walk
away from Him again and get yourself buried in another situation. Get
free and stay free. You can be a testimony to those that are still
getting dug out of their situations. If God got you out, He will get
them out too.
I’ll closing with an excerpt of a song by Deitrick Haddon that I really love, “He’s Able”.
"God is able to do just what He said He will do. He’s
gonna fulfill every promise to you. Don’t give up on God, cuz He won’t
give up on you. He’s able"
**Tasha**
